Jack yawned loudly and vocally, which would have been obnoxious had it not been the only sound in the otherwise silent room. Christmas Eve was well over and Christmas day had already crept in slowly. Everyone had returned to their respective rooms save for the host  and the three others who had been dragged into preparing the feast and party.

After salvaging the last bit of food and packing it into the ice box Jack stretched in all directions rather dramatically. He had consumed over what he should have in red wine for the evening, but being a Vessalius, it didn't affect him too much. If anything, he seemed quite normal, only a bit more easy to amuse than usual. After having put everything away, however, he just felt exaughsted; content, but tired.

He observed the room that previously held most of the population of the mansion inside it only an hour ago. There were two left; two small boys asleep in front of the fire, one lazily leaning into the other, drooling on his big brother's shirt. Jack knew they needed to be put to bed, but the image itself was so precious to him. He still wasn't thinking too clearly and rather than picking one of the boys up to send them to sleep, he remained content to simply watch them sleep there in front of the fire.

When Jack had flipped the page and yawned again for the third time, he finally decided to check the time. Pulling out the golden watch, he flipped it open to read seven thirty. It was past dinner time now. He closed the book he had been reading, stood, and stretched.

He had actually been reading a book on cooking, and so far, it had been rather helpful, but he needed to put it to practice. Putting the book under his arm, he walked over to the door and opened it.

. . . To see Gilbert and Rufus standing there with a tray. He blinked. "Hello?"

[A tall Japanese woman with gray eyes can be seen on the streets outside of the apartments. She taps the screen of her communicator. She has never owned a cell phone so she is unsure if she is using it correctly.]

Hello?

Can any of you point me to the nearest restaurant; this is getting ridiculous.

[She is clearly annoyed at the lack of food in this place, and her cooking skills are nil.]

"Yes, I'll get it!" Jack ran over to the bushes after the croquet ball. His family had been playing and after his mother had completely caught him off guard with the mention of marriage, the result had been in a rather exaggerated bit of his ball.

Of all the things mother should discuss during croquet . . . . and in front of my brothers as well . . .

He pulled the bushes back slightly, unable to find it by looking underneath them. What they revealed was a girl. He blinked a few times to check his eyesight. The had long honey colored hair and a purple dress on. She was leaning against a tree, her eyes closed. The ball had stopped just at her thigh, waiting impatiently to join back in the game. Who is she? the ball would have to wait. She did not look like any of the servants from the Vessalius household, but she did appear to be a noble. however, Jack knew most of the noble families in Sablier. Perhaps she was visiting family? then what on earth was she doing here at the Vessalius house?

"Excuse me, Miss?"
